About
Hello! Aloha! Bonjour! Guten Tag! Ciao! Konnichiwa! Hola!
Welcome to my website, Solo Travel Adventures. I’m Amie and I’m the creator of this site. All of the content on here is my own (including photographs and links to my social media and YouTube pages). You may sometimes get to read articles from other solo travelers on this website, too, but their articles will be clearly marked with their byline. All other content is mine! Please note that all photos and written content on this website is copyrighted and cannot be used without permission.
Solo Travel Beginnings
My journey as a solo traveler began my freshman year of college. I really wanted to get on a plane and go away to college. So, I chose the most exotic location I could find: Hawaii! I had never been there before, and my grandfather was the only person in my family to have ever gone there (however, his trip was 50 years previously when he served there in the military), so I truly felt like I was going on a grand adventure to a place that was all my own. I was giddy with excitement. I boarded that plane all by myself at 18 years old with way too much luggage (I’m now a minimalist packer) and embarked on a journey that would be the first of many solo voyages in my lifetime.
Early Explorations
It was during this time in Hawaii that I discovered how much I loved exploring new places solo. My roommates and friends couldn’t always go with me on my adventures, and I didn’t want to miss out, so I’d just go on my own. Some of them thought I was crazy to go all by myself, but I never thought that for a minute! I loved the sense of accomplishment that came from navigating an unfamiliar city, figuring out transportation, and finding little off-the-beaten-path gems that felt like they were mine and mine alone.
Dreaming of the Next Adventure
This thrill of solo travel has never left me, even after traveling independently to hundreds of locales around the world. I still dream of my next destination and have an ever-growing bucket list of places that I want to visit.
